Bring a roll of toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Some restrooms may be out of toilet paper and might not have soap. Bring a good book and snacks if you are traveling with a group, so you don't have to stop too often. Also, if the gas prices are crazy, consider bringing a gas can with you. Do some research on line. You should be able to figure out what the gas prices will be on your route. If it is going to be more expensive, then fill it up at the last gas station with the best prices so you can make it further for a little cheaper. You may want to store it outside the vehicle though, because it could smell up the vehicle. Also, if you have a portable dvd player, that could be a trip saver. Have a good trip!

Eat small meals. Sitting for hours with a full stomach is uncomfortable. Take some high energy snacks.
Take music with you, Cd's or something, some places won't get radio reception.
Take water, sodas, juice - driving can be thirsty work. NO ALCOHOL on long distance trips, even a little has a greater effect when you are tired or stressed.
Stop every two hours for a leg stretch, walk around, change drivers, if there is more than one. Allow for toilet breaks.
Don't drive at the times you would normally be sleeping. Don't drive through the night, if that's not a time you would be awake normally, your body will be too tired and you could get drowsy behind the wheel. Do not rely on pills or energy drinks to keep you going.
Allow more time than you think you will need to get there, so you don't stress at small delays. Check the route, mark it out, and know alternatives. Locate likely places to take a break.
Get the car checked out. Make sure its in good running order. Make sure the spare is in good nick, top up oil and water before you go.
If you are traveling with kids, make sure you have things for them to do, to keep them occupied - game boys, in car DVD, books, colouring, etc. Allow extra time if travel ling with small children.
I'm talking from experience, as we take 1200 - 1800km trips every 6 months or so.
Safe driving!

hmm, make sure you have good company otherwise the trip will be pretty boring. if u can, carry a portable dvd player and watch movies on the way. get LOTS of food with you. carry first aid. make sure the car is comfortable, if it isnt, u would want to rent a bigger one. make sure there are stops inbetween, so that noone wants to use the toilet or wtv. thats all i can think of. have fun in ur trip

take a portable dvd player and rent alot of movies.
it takes up about 1 1/2 hours per movie..so it seems like it goes by faster.
also take snacks so you wont have to stop and get food every few hours.
