I was at the movies a last weekend and we were standing outside for about two hours (we got kicked out of the movie) and their was this guy just walking around..sort of pacing. One of my friends I was there with said he was an undercover cop. Just wondering if he was there because they were investigating some sort of crime, or do movie theaters always have undercover police? What do they do, just pace around?

i work at a popular retail chain and about 75% of the time we have our undercover "loss prevention" supervisor there. Pretty much a pretty well built guy dressed in regular clothes that goes around the store acting like a real customer. If we are suspicious of any one stealing we are not allowed to say anything to them but we can only call the security. He will follow you around the store upon exit. Prolly what they did to you at the movie theater. They just kicked you out n sent someone out there to make sure you weren't gonna do something like break a window

Probably depends on the movie theater and the location. I have heard of security but for an officer to be at the movies must be a little more.
You should always be on your best behavior. I always am packing a gun, cuffs, and my ID. Of course I would direct my complaints to the manager but rest assured if you get out of line I will intervene even off the clock.

Thugs that think they have the right to go out and disturb the world,at movies, food places, anywhere and everywhere, are on the rise in every city and town in America...its impossible to go out with your family and have a quiet meal or enjoy a show without a bunch of young crapheads making noise so a lot of places hire off duty officers to pinpoint troublemakers and get them "kicked out" so normal people can try and enjoy themselves without unasked for input..its a great idea...

Answer: Just what in gawds name does one have to do to get kicked out of a movie theather?
Why were you loitering around a business that just previously ejected you for whatever conduct?
No wonder you were paranoid!
The presents of "COPS" put law abiding citizens at ease...May we all assume that your discomfort was warranted.

I'm having trouble believing your friend knows an undercover cop when he sees one. After all, he didn't see the uniformed usher coming when you got kicked out, did he?
You probably need better friends.

I don't go to movies at theaters anymore because I don't think any industry that treats its customers like criminals deserves to stay in business. Another reason I stopped going is because of the half an hour of commercials they show before the movie.
Ticket prices, alone, should pay for the show. Price gouging for popcorn, and banning snacks bought outside, is another reason I consider them lower than the mafia.

Cops have better things to do than catch punks sneaking into movies.

why did you get kicked out? and if you did something unlawful then he would have arrested you, so maybe he is just an undercover security guard.
