IT IS SO EASY to tell if a nerdy guy likes you. Notice the way he looks at other people and then notice the way he looks at YOU. If it seems like his eyes light up when he looks at you then he's interested. Also, if he's waving hi to you whenever he gets the chance and always smiles, then he probably likes you. He would probably always try to make you laugh and always give joke after joke, even when theyre not funny. IMO, guys who are 'nerds' or 'geeks' dont do well at covering up their romantic interest for a woman.

As a nerd myself, I will have to say that there is only one way to find out.

If the feeling is mutual, and you also like him then:

Ask him.

Doing that is completely unexpected and I'm sure it will put a smile on his face, while at the same time making him turn red with embarrassment.

As for understanding the inner workings of a nerds mind, all you have to do is treat him with respect and he will treat you like a lady.

When a "nerdy" or shy guy is interested girl, he will make a very timid effort to approach her and ask her to join him in an activity that isn't clearly one for a date or just something done by friends (for this reason, many "nerds" end up in the "friend zone").

This occurs because many of us nerds don't have much actual experience dating and have taken to reading books and other material on this subject. Since much of this literature still advocates that girls are only to be approached slowly and invited on traditional dates, many nerds have adopted this strategy. Unfortunately, while this strategy is fine for people who have just begun dating, many nerds begin dating "late" and therefore approaching girls who have much more dating experience and interpret this approach as one made by "friends" and not romantic interests.

Thus, if a "nerd" appears to be trying really hard to be your friend, while seaming not to show the physical interests that characterizes most romantic relationships, it is likely that he really is interested in a romantic relationship and just doesn't know how to express this.

You would do well to date one of these guys since we are usually so thankful that a girl has shown interest in us that we do everything we know to attempt to please that girl. So long as you make your emotional, physical [ex."Owww, I could use a foot rub right now"], and material crystal clear (most "nerds" aren't very good at interpreting a woman’s hints), he will move heaven and earth to fulfill these*.

*Use this power wisely. While abusing this wouldn't hurt you much, taking advantage of such an individual will likely leave them permanently scared.

He will crash around you and need to reboot :P Seriously though nerds (well true nerd anyway not the hybrid kind) are so out of touch with reality its quite possible his abilities to hide emotions may not be developed.

If the usual indercators come up null (staring then pulling away when u go to look, etc) then try to get him to help you with something computer related. Watch for signs then.
