Please take your cat to the Vet! You have had him for five years and you would know what shedding is. It isn't shedding.

Does your cat go outside? When hair comes out in clumps (sometimes with what looks like a scab at the end) it could be from poisoning. Commonly antifreeze.

it could be an allergy or a allergic reaction to somthing in the home my advice is take him to the vet and make a list of anything that has changed such as new lotion or soap that you mightbe using some times they can be sensitive if their food has been changed or it could be if you are using plastic food dishes he could have developed an allergy to that hope this helps i know it is scary when you are worried about your pet plus I hope he gets better

either hes been in a fight or he is shedding his winter coat as animals usually do this right about spring to get ready for the hot summer that;s coming soon,.,. lol

Dont know but I know I heard that excessive hairloss in cats is not good I would take him to vet.
