This sounds like a term paper question.

The biggest positive is the cruise ships generally bring a lot of money to the cities where they make port stops. They support the economies in many places by bringing money for taxis, tour operators, people who have vendor stands, and all manner of people in the towns.

One of the negatives is that people who who tour from cruise ships don't generally get the full flavor of the port city because they spend so short a time period there, like 6 to 8 hours at most.

The biggest impact is to the small islands which can't really accommodate thousands of passengers on a single day... It destroys the envirtonment. Also, large ports must be built for the cruise ships...

The biggest advantage is that you get to see many different places in a week....
