I work for the boys and girls clubs of America - some parents drop their children off at school in the mornings as soon as they are allowed - 7 am here - then the kids come to us after school. Our last pick-up is at 8PM. We have usually 7 or 8 kids left at that time. Think about it. l3 hours a day your kid is in somebody else's care - you take them home - shove food in them and bang!! bedtime - do it all again. Face the reality the before school programs, school and aftercare programs ARE raising some of these kids. We do not hesitate to teach morality at B&G club - (Not sex morality) - like don't cheat, lie or steal that type of morality. Do I think this is a good idea - no I am now 57 when my daughter was young I quit work and stayed home with her.She is now 27 and I have never regretted the financial sacrifice of doing that -- today's parents need to wake up.

I have come to believe these parents to be either lazy, or just plain ignorant, by that I mean uneducated themselves. Isn't it also these same parents that when their children are disciplined at school are the first to object and want to sue the teacher or school for picking on their poor darlings?

They are the same ones that if their kid gets in trouble in school that they blame the school instead of themselves for not teaching their child to have respect for the teachers and other workers. I only got one detention in all of my years in school and that was for being like 2 seconds late for English class my Junior year. I knew if I got in trouble in school I would get in twice as much trouble at home.

Those parents are not responsible enough to take on that task. They want someone else to do it so they have someone else to blame when things don't go according to plan.

They are lazy or they were too young to have kids in the first place and don't know how to do it themselves.
