You know what? I heard someone on here ask why is Africa the way it is with all the violence and poverty that is over there? I responded because they have rejected God. When a person rejects God, they really do not understand the reality of what they have done. It can allow the most horrible tragedies to occur, by turning your back on the Lord. That's why Africa is the way it is. Sadly enough, americans have enjoyed the grace of God for a long time. Some americans are distant and removed from the sufferings of others around the world. However, God is sending a wake up call to america and some americans are still procrastinating whether there is a God or not. 911 didn't wake us up, Katrina, didn't wake us up. Not even what happened at Virginia Tech, woke us up. I hope people get the picture and see a pattern developing here. If American continues to go on in sin and homosexuality. We won't be any different than any of the other countries which experience massive tradgedies everyday.

How do you know people had not tried to help him. He refused to get help from a therapist. If a person wants help he will get it. I am surprised that some people did not see signs of this person before the horrible event- however- that does not mean that some did not try to help and he refused. There are many times God does things to help , through people, and other ways, and we just refuse to listen. I do not know the whole story here, and either do you, so we are just assuming. The thing we should be doing now is being friends and praying for those families that lost loved ones.

Your question makes me think of the story of the man in the flood. A man was at his house when a flood began. A policeman came by and volunteered to give the man a ride. The man replied "No thanks, I'm waiting for God to rescue me." A while later, the flood had risen high enough that he had to go to the second story of his house. While there, a boat came by and offered to take him to safety. The man replied, "No thanks, I'm waiting for God to save me." Eventually, the water was so high, he had to get on his roof. A helicopter came by and sent a rescue basket down. But again the man refused and said, "No thanks, I'm waiting for God to save me." Eventually, the man drowned and went to heaven. He asked God, "Why didn't you save me?" God reply was, "I sent a policeman, a boat, and a helicopter." God might have sent someone to this young man to be a friend. However, friendship is a two-way street and this young man may have rejected the people who came his way. It is pretty obvious that he had some serious problems, and I don't think that just having someone to hang out with would have been enough to solve some of the problems he had.

Okay, let's put an end to this right now. The blood-lusting god of christians loves to teach people lessons, and this was one of them. All the other gods also love teaching lessons, and this was one of them. To atheists, there is no lesson in this besides learning that we need better security at our schools and even though people die every day, theists still believe god protects them.
God will not send people to intervene in homicidal rampages unless the homocidal killer is a theist and another theist somehow reminds him/her. God protects no one from being eaten by lions in the jungles of Africa, and it protects no one from being involved in drunk driving or other auto/plane/train/motorcycle/bicycle/unicycle/circus/laboratory accidents. It uses all of these things to teach the survivors a lesson that they have to wait to get to heaven to understand, and he calls some of them to heaven via these tragedies.
There, now that we have this all cleared up, can we please stop asking why god doesn't show up. He either doesn't care, isn't there, or works in mysterious ways. It all depends on what you want to believe.
Have a great day everyone. I hope god doesn't want to teach any of you any lessons anytime soon.

I think He tried....But how many people did He ask to go make friends with that person that said, Maybe tomorrow or next week or I'm too busy now. And now they have to deal with the fact that God told them to make friends and now some of their other friends are dead because they didn't take the time to make one more friend. God's a gentleman, He doesn't force His way on us.

I think a more appropuate question to all is "Is there someone in your llife that needs you as a friend right now?" I am sure God did but whether he chose to accept their friendship care or not is another story. When you are hurting it is hard to reach out.

The guy was sick. He would not talk to anybody.
And how do you know whether God did or didn't send someone to talk to him? Even with his sick mind he was still capable of accepting or rejecting the help offered.

Who says that God didn't send friends? We all have the free will to accept or reject the gifts given to us.
