Do I need a new ac compressor?? It blows out cold air, it's just the noise that it makes..it also did it when I turned my heater on during the winter..but only when I put it to defrost the windshield.

its the ac compressor. just like you turn on the ac at home and you put it on money saver or leave the fan running all the time the compressor kicks on and off when it thinks it has reached the temperature you set it to. for example...... You set your ac at 72 degrees and leave the fan on. the when the air conditioner thinks its 72 degrees the compressor kicks off and the fan runs when it gets hotter in the house the compressor kicks back on same thing with your car it work the same way! hope I helped!

AC and alternator are the same serpintine belt they have to be very tight. When in doubt replace both belts with new ones. The Nissan dealer will have the exact belt. Just be carefull replacing the belts draw a diagram of how the belt runs over the pulleys, Powersteering belt is easy, It is possable to get the belt on the wrong side of the waterpump pulley. Rule of thumb smooth side of the belt to the smooth pulleys and make sure the belt rides in the grooves correctly.

It is the AC blower motor...it is located right under the passenger dash...the part only cost about $75 but most mechanics charge for a lot of labor.

My best guess sitting here in my recliner is it is the belt. The squeeling on and off is the give away. If they are old they may need changed.
