Because god is a myth. He's not real, otherwise, he'd preform some well needed miracles.

For one, people have more than one messenger of religion coming around and telling them the good word, so it gets confusing, and no one who is confused can choose, because they feel boombarded with all the messengers.
The LDS Church does their best with calling young men and women from all around the world, and teaching them the customs of that culture, so when they go around preaching their gospel, they don't seem so silly.
And I don't know about any other missionaries(messengers) that come around your door, though I'm sure, they do the same thing as the LDS Church.
I suggest if you don't really like the messengers, because they seem silly, or it seems like they don't know what they are talking about, maybe ask other people of that religion, or read your, or pick a church, and see what you like.

God uses the least expected to do His works. For instance, look at David or Joseph in the Bibles, they were the least favored both by their family and society until the appointed time.
Of course the messangers today are as good as in the olden days, but what might have changed are the listeners.

You think he didn't have good messengers? Were you there in the time of Roman rule? Were you there when people hacked each other apart because the emperor told them to? Were you there before the time of the internet, and science, and people believed anything that anyone told them out of a fear for their life? And were you there when Jesus said in one defiant voice ENOUGH! Were you? Cause if you were, I'd really like to talk to you.

God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things- or he would not use any of us. No matter who God uses it is the person who listens who has the choice to choose or not.

Would it matter? You'd still have people who would "choose" not to believe.
