I'm not sure of the actual quotation, but I believe it is pulling a camel through the eye of a needle...
I don't know that it's saying that God doesn't want any of us to be rich... I think that there was probably a specific reason it was being said at the time.
HOWEVER, I don't know that a lot of the rich televangelists out there are 'blessed' with their riches by God, etc.. While there are surely some that are real and true, there are a large number out there that are certainly not "of God"..

That passage of scripture refers to the camels getting in the walls surrounding the cities. There were small openings that the camels could be guided through, but it was difficult. These openings are translated "needles". So the meaning of the passage is that it is difficult, but not impossible for a rich man to enter heaven. It implies that the more you have, the more you place importance on it.........& so the importance you placed on God deminishes. No man can serve 2 masters...he will love the one & neglect the other or vise versa.
As to rich televangelists......not all are false.....but, of course a lot are. Whether they go to heaven or not doesn't depend on the amount of money they've acquired honestly, or not........it depends on if they have accepted Jesus as their Savior.

No. The parable says , "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, that for a rich man to get to heaven", because greed may overtake him.

I have been taught that the more you give God and help his people the more you will have. I have also been taught that you should keep giving based on your increase. Don't know if all the televangelists are true Christians, but let God get all the glory for their deceit. God will reveal all the wolves in sheep's clothing.

One televangelist that comes to mind that is a complete farce to religion and humanity is Peter Popoff. The man's a charlatan, a fantastic deceiver that attacks the faithful's wallets and pocketbooks via their soft, impressionable minds. Take a look, this guy's a complete waste of life. They are rich probably because of the many "donations" and "endorsements" they get.
In the bible, Jesus seems to indicate that secular wealth, or specifically a love of secular wealth, is a hinderance to entering the kingdom of God.
The bible is a historical fiction, so you can't really use it to figure things out.

It is quite interesting that even though Jesus defined greatness as servanthood, those who are greatest in the kingdom of the American church seem only to serve themselves. Just try to get one those people to wash the feet of a beggar.

Yeah totally agree. It is not right that people give so much money to be saved. Being saved is free and easier then they think.
