would that mean todays women are disobeying the bible since men wear pants and it was looked down upon before the 40s for women to wear anything but long skirts or dresses.

why does the bible say that we can't wear eachothers clothes???

I do not try to explain the laws given in the OT. There are a myriad of them. Deuteronomy 22:5 says don't, and I personally would die before I wore a woman's garment.

The thing that is funny is this: four thousand years ago, they all wore tunics covered with a robe.

In my church just about all the older women wear pants.

Real power lies in the hands of those who write history and create the mythos upon which a society is based. In Biblical times this was the priesthood. They and the scribes they trained were the only literate members of society. The easiest way to keep people (women and slaves) in their place is to say that God ordained it that way and then produce a book to prove it. No matter how inspired the authors were or by what source, the information had to filter through their minds and personalities. The Bible was written by men immersed in an ancient patriarchal culture. They all had agendas, whether it was keeping the social order, unifying doctrine, eliminating heresy or gaining converts. After studying it for years I've concluded that it's a pretty transparent piece of propaganda. What I do value in the Bible is the story of Christ's life and teachings. I think He knew how misinterpreted and manipulated words can become and therefore lived in a way that would allow us to follow in His footsteps regardless of what anyone wrote about Him. 3) A third tenet prohibits men and women from wearing each other’s clothing (“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God”--Deuteronomy 22:5). Funny thing, two female Jehovah Witnesses came over this morning, they coffee clutched with my neighbor Jenny, a fellow Christian and ALL THREE of these women were wearing pant suits!

4) Ever watch these Christians on television and notice how their bowed heads uniformly shake amen while some evangelist goes on and on in prayer for a ******* hour? Well, repetitious and monotonous praying is in violation of Matthew 6:7. “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”

5) Christians are not supposed to take their disputes before non-Christian courts or judges. (“If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints?” -- 1 Corinthians 6:1 NIV) How interesting! Considering that state is separate from church all courts are supposedly “ungodly”. Does this stop Christians from tying up the supreme court with law suits concerning school prayer, abortion, or numerous other absurdities? Hell no it doesn’t, and my taxes are paying the ******* bill for their hypocrisy!

6) Christian women are supposed to dress discreetly (“...that women should adorn themselves modestly and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly attire”--l Timothy 2:9 RSV; and “Let not yours be the outward adorning of braiding of hair, decoration of gold, and wearing of fine clothing”-- 1 Peter 3 :3). Violations of these rules are too numerous to mention. Just visualize Tammy Faye Baker’s mascara laden eyes and gold encrusted wrists.

I think it was before..if it was wrong priests would say something. I think that times changed and so has the meaning. There is also an example of where they say that a woman should cover her head when she enters of the House of God because it upsets the angels. Something like that. Yeah that is why I wear a veil to church....yet I've also heared that women should not have short hair...

deutoronomy 22:5 it is an abomination for a woman to wear clothing pertaining to a man and vice versa

that is why so much same sex goes on today. the preaching of false doctrine that says their is no differences between man and women. saying we are all equal nonsense. God made us different and it should stay that way.

Personally, I think that when the Bible says "A man shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a woman and a woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man" that it's referring to undergarments. But just to be on the safe side, don't wear dresses if you're a guy. (Did you hear that, Maxwell Q. Klinger?)

I think the Bible means, Dudes, don't wear a dress, and girls, don't wear a tuxedo, both in ways trying to look like the opposite gender. That's what it's focus is on. Don't try to veer from your natural gender.

It's in there. Except my Bible is in my locker at school.

The Bible knew Shania Twain would sing about "Men's shirts, short skirts..." the prudish writers thought it abominable!

The purpose of the request, is to dress as a woman would dress, if you are a woman, and to dress as a man would dress, if you are a man, whereas this would not cause confusion to your type of person, which could be embarrassing... Tradition...etc...

men used to wear long robs the same as women as many arabs still do. the point was not to impersinate the oposit sex. not to apear other than you are. My dad said girls should not wear trowsers but if you go back to Jesus time or before they all wore dress's
