It is domestic violence and abuse. Don't delay; contact the police, and consider going to a shelter or ppl you trust in.

I'm black too, and so yeah, I understand what an "***-whooping" means. My mother stopped hitting me with a belt -- you know, stick your hand and pop -- when I was a teenager. She hit me recently in the arm for not doing her college homework. But that's a different matter.

Hitting someone for no apparent reason is stupid.

It is domestic violence. It is also assault. However, do you want to have your mother arrested? If you filed charges like this, she may be arrested and I am sure the police would advise you to move from the home and you can't do that. Is there a relative who could talk to her and have her stop this? If not, you may have to go to a shelter until you can make other arrangements.

When a person has been abused their whole life, they cannot just walk out the door and live a normal life. Please don't add to her anguish by saying these things.
Nickia...is there anyone you can go to? A friend, relative ANYONE?? You do need to get out, but it's easier said than done, I know. Unless you trust someone enough to reach out, you will continue to be abused. You also need some counseling to break these cycles, or you may repeat them with your own family.
I wish you strength and good luck.

How did she unenroll you??? You are 20 and legally an adult she has no legal right to do that. Go and sign back up and file for financial aide - she cant control that anymore than my mother could call my job and quit for me. Not only that you obviously have computer access so contact your friends that way and go stay w them.
Its assault - you are too old for it to be considered child abuse.

It is absolutely domestic violence. You are no longer a child, so this can't be reported as child abuse, but if your mother does this often, then it is domestic violence and you should go to the police. No person deserves to be beaten.

Well, you're too old to be spanked. So yeah, I guess you could call it domestic violence. But really, what did you do to deserve that? Did you rob a bank or something?

It is considered child abuse. You can report her but you'll be placed in a youth organization until they find you a foster home. You need to show this to your mom and see if you two can come to an agreement. Like stop hitting your kid, mom!!!! Psychiatric Social Worker.

I'm sorry, but you CAN move out. Maybe she does this because she's tired of having some lazy do-nothing bum mooching off her.
She feeds you, she pays your rent, she pays your utilities. She lets you stay there. Don't like it... GET OUT, you are an adult and that is an option.
Stop blaming your failure to move on your parents. Get out, or shut up.

That counts as child abuse. It is hard, but you have to report it in order to get her to stop! God bless! Good luck and stay strong!
