I would feel better about it if NYC was to adopt a system similar to Nassau/Suffolk and areas of New Jersey.

Many areas outside of New York have systems where non-residents have to pay to enter their areas. NYC residents who wish to go to beaches and parks have to pay while their residents get a pass to enter free (it's part of their taxes).

We here in NYC are taxed enough. In Nassau County they call it a "Leisure Pass" which Nassau residents get free. Let's introduce a NYC "Culture" pass, which NYC residents get for free. Let the other guys who make us pay to visit there, pay to visit here.

Manhattan is NOT THAT CONGESTED! I understand it has worked well in some European cities that were built around medieval cow paths, but NYC's wide Avenues, grid system, a century of first class public transport & sky high parking costs have led to a reasonable balance of traffic & people.

It's not the dumbest idea in the world. There's a LOT of people who drive into the city who don't need to drive it. There's also a good many of these people who drive solo. NYC has some of the best mass transit in the country, if not the world, and if it's feasible for what you're doing, why not use it?

I think it is a GREAT idea! It will make money for the city and make it less polluted... good for the environment. It's also great for pedestrians. How many times have to been almost run over by cars trying to make a left or right turn when you're trying to cross the street. I really hope that Bloomberg goes through with this.
