Start taking Brewers Yeast Tablets 2 weeks before you go and throughout your holiday. I used to get bitten all the time and I reacted badly to them, since I started doing this they still bite but nowhere near a much and the bites amount to nothing. Someone told me that it's nothing to do with Brewers Yeast, but it seems to have worked for me and they are harmless to take. Holland and Barrett sell them. Good luck, have a nice holiday!

Try the certified organic repellent from http://www.saferalternative.com it has no nasty chamicals and is very effective and natural. Check out the 'shop' link and look under MiEnviron products on the shop navigation (there are only 2 products - *** see below)
The chemical DEET based repellents are excellent for keeping mosquitos away -- BUT the chemicals are really toxic and I just do not think it is justifiable to spray it on yourself (and hence have your skin absorb up to 50% of this chemical)
***Product details to save you time (quoted from site):

Buy Avon's Skin So Soft - Mosquitos hate it.
Midgies hate it too - I highly recommend it!

when i was in mozambique, i used something from boots, i think - it had DEET in it, and was supposed to keep everything away, but i still got atacked by them.
i think if they want to bite you, they will!
also, i've heard white attracts them, so wear dark colours in the evening.
have fun! x

You may not believe this, but dryer sheets in your pockets will keep them away. Give it a try.
