The atheists just want one life. That seems more humble to me.

You are correct. However, I would say that wanting eternal life isn't necessarily about not having humility, but simply being fearful of death. Of course it was religion itself that took advantage of that common fear and amplified it by postulating an afterlife that it cannot prove to be factual. When you're told about this afterlife though as a child you're programmed through evolution to believe what the adults around you tell you. So it takes great will power to break through that conditioning to actually question it as you get older.

True humility is realizing that there is someone out there bigger than you and you don't have all of the answers, which is why people come to God in the first place. Receiving eternal life is a result of the humbling act of accepting God.

I don't think that eternal life grants them humility, but rather their humility grants them eternal life. And I have met a lot of supposed-Christians that were not at all humble.

As an atheist, it's not necessarily that I only want one life. It really makes no difference to me. It's just that I think it's all we get

The after life isn't what's eternal for us. Our entire life is if we accept Christ. In John 3:16 it doesn't say when you die, you will have eternal life. When we accept Christ as our savior, then we already have eternal life. I think it's just called taking a huge favor someone has offered us.

I am not humble because I accepted eternal life.

I am humble because, God seeing the "real" me forgave me, cleansed me, and accepted me into His family when I realized that I was absolutely nothing without Him in my life.

Too many people think more highly of themselves than they ought too.

Wherefore He said, God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. 7. Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:6-7) There is a passage in Ephesians where we read the wife is to submit to her husband as unto the LORD and the husband is to "love" his wife (Ephesians 5:22-25). The Apostle Peter writes, "5. In like manner, you younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility; for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble." (1 Peter 5:5) There is a theme of humility here. One cannot submit to God without humility. Obedience requires one to humble them selves to surrender to the authority of another and we are told that God resists pride and the arrogance that fosters that pride.

Therefore, having a humble and submissive heart is a choice we make. That means as born again believers we daily make a choice to submit ourselves unto God for the work that the Holy Spirit does in us to "conform us to the image of Christ" and God will use the situations of our lives to bring us the opportunity to submit to him (Romans 8:28-29).

How is your choice about eternal life and indicator of humily or lack thereof at all? Humility is about how you view yourself as a person on earth, not your place in eternity.

you're confusing eternal life with multiple lives. If you think of eternal life as one instantaneous embrace of God, poetically speaking, then it is our true home, our salvation. I guess either way we have one life, and so it really depends on what you think will happen afterwards.

properly....i won't have the capacity to declare that i attempt to scare human beings into church...I basically be truthful approximately what i've got faith... yet...it would not certainly remember what reason you start up up going to church as long as you get the main suitable message while you're there... BTW....i'm (a minimum of partly) stimulated by employing the terror of going to hell...who could elect that?

1) Because we acknowledge that we didn't earn it.
2) Because we admit that there is a being who is higher than ourselves.
