While watching a show I noticed that high fructose corn syrup [HFCS] is supposed to be a really really bad thing.

My family is a big fan of V8 juices. After watching the show I noticed HFCS is an ingredient. Does this mean that V8 isn't good for us or does it matter?

I'm just curious. We don't drink V8 all day and night it's just our juice of choice. If it's not good for us, what other juices do you recomend?

Thanks!

Everyone had such great answers to my questions I can't decide. All together I've decided that my family will continue drinking V8. We exercise daily and are in really healthy shape. I honestly don't think it will make that much difference if we drink a glass of V8 a day.

Thanks again!!

Just like anything else, moderation is key. Eating corn syrup by the bottle, just like sucking down packets of sugar, is likely to be deleterious to your health.

Yes, High Fructose Corn Syrup is really bad for you. Unfortunately, it's in almost every tasty juice out there. Read labels before buying another juice. Also, some juices that promise calcium or vitamin D are not all what they claim to be. I have been drinking Vitamin Water for over a month now assuming it would be the miracle juice/soda-substitute until a friend of mine told me about the high sugar content and it's funny because I didn't even bother to look. I'm going to start making own juices at home with fresh fruits so I know what's going in my body and I'm looking forward to experimenting with different flavors.

V8 is marketed as a 'health food'. NO real health food contains HFCS or any other added sugar. Go to your health food store and buy 'real' juices.

Note: many "100%" fruit juice products are mostly white grape juice and very little of the other juice(s) that screams at you on the label.

I think it's only 8 grams of sugar per serving on the ones that contain HFCS, not all of them have the same amount. nothing to worry about at all unless you are drinking 10 glasses a day.
