Go outside if possible - catch bugs, ID birds, play ball [ softball or soccer balls ] frisbee, weed the garden [ tell him you're digging for worms ], jump rope, hopscotch, draw chalk pictures in the driveway.
Indoors - borrow some legos! Teach him some card games. Help him make cookies. Get some craft items and make Mother's Day cards.Teach him how to do a cartwheel. Anything you're good at, he'll probanly enjoy.

Boys at that age are often active. If you can get outside, then play some ball, kick it around or play catch. Afterwards go inside and colour or play video games.
Another fun activity is to think up a craft to do together or bake cookies and let him help you mix etc.
Just have fun with him and he will probably let you know what he wants to do.

Pay very close attention to all the great ideas and stories they have to tell, kids love it when they are acknowledged. And maybe buy him stuff, spoiling is great when its not your kid.
