I was talking to someone who is my friend on a game I play sometimes. He said he lost 22 pounds jogging and he said he knew how much kids were supose to weight. So I asked him if 74 pounds was too much or good for 5 foot and 14-years old. Then he said I was kind of fat and needed to be 70 or less. And that if I was 60 I would be in good shape. But my docter weighs me every few weeks because i'm always trying to get backto 63 pounds and she said it wasn't healthy and was dangerous. And she said to weigh at the least 86 to be healthy. I'm very confused. Who is right? Am I really fat? =(

the amount of body fat that a person has determines if they are fat or not. the total bodyweight is irrelevant.

example:

girl A - 5'5 160 lbs @ 35% body fat = 104 lbs of non-fat
girl B - 5'5 160 lbs @ 20% body fat = 128 lbs of non-fat

both girls may be a little heavy for their height but A is much fatter than B. from a metabolic standpoint B has a reduced health risk of many metabolic disorders and other diseases than A. don't focus on the numbers on the scale body fat or the body composition is what's important

Your Doctor is right. According to the BMI scale you are underweight if you are 74 lbs. at that height and age. 86 lbs. will put you in the normal range. You are still growing, so you shouldn't worry that much about what you weigh right now. At 14 it is best to listen to the adults and health care professionals in your life. They should be more subjective and knowledgeable about your health. You never know who you meet online, so take their advice (even this advice) with a grain of salt. Talk about your weight and diet with adults who care about your happiness and health.

You are not fat. If you are fat then I am seriously overweight. The doctor is totally right. I'm sorry to say that your friend was not right. If you continue this way, you'll end up being anorexic. Some peopale get strokes from anorexia it is really bad for you. You should gain wieght.

74 pounds sounds pretty light for 5 foot tall. That being said, if your Doctor tells you something, LISTEN TO THEM. They were trained in medical school for this.

Your "friend" sounds like a layman and his opinion is worth what you paid him for it.
