I've sworn by pro line for years. It's similar to spider wire, but less expensive. I use it with an open faced reel, and have never had a problem.

For monofilament i would have to say Shakespeare cajun line is the best i've discovered so far. It is red so it dissapears under water, it has low memory, very tough, reliable, and sensitive.

I really like Berkley Transition or Vanish. I usually use 10 to 14 lb line.
