Your communication with God from your heart is more important than reading scripture. God wants you to Love him with your whole heart and soul. The bible says that faith comes from reading the word. The book is for your information and gaining wisdom from the words presented.
Prayer is the direct line to God, not the bible. Jesus said ask and you shall receive , knock and the door will be open, seek and you shall find. The kingdom of God is within. Go to your room and pray in private. Pray all day unceasingly. There was not the bible in Jesus's time. He used to take his disciples away by themselves into the mountains for prayer and meditation to rejuvenate themselves. Your faith will make you well! Come unto me all you heavy laden and I will give you rest.

We talk to God through prayer, God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, through the Bible, Both are important, just depends on your situation at the time. I always try to do them together. P.S. The Bible is the only book ever written that every time you read it the author is right there with you. Also ignore the God haters their worried if there is a God it will interrupt their self centered lives. Someday they will believe also, lets just hope and pray that when the day comes it's not to late for them.

Your question is somewhat like asking whether talking or listening is more important. If the Bible contains God's self-revelation, then the Bible is the beginning of the conversation that must be continued in prayer.

Both are important because they bring you closer to God. I don't know if in God's eyes one is MORE important than the other, but if I could only do one, it would be praying, because God says that his Word is inscripted in our hearts. Abraham didn't have any scripture to read, but he talked to God. I read the Bible and pray though. They are both important. Good question.

Praying. It's in real time. You can get immediate strength. Bible reading is good, but the Bible needs a bit of figuring out. It really doesn't work too well WITHOUT prayer.

I would say they are equal. Reading the Bible is just about the same as talking to God.

I think they are equally important. The Bible and prayer go hand in hand in our attempts to more fully understand and practice a devout way of life.

They are both important, but I dont think God would hold it against you for not studying his word regularly. I believe your relationship with God is what matters in the end.
