Noxzema (spelling...the skin cream cleaner...) helps with the burning sensation if it's really bad.
Aloe Vera (like the actually plant) squeeze a little out and apply to the burn.
Aloe Vera Gel works really good too! Keep it in the refrigerator if you can really feel the burning sensation.

Which ever you use...use a lot! Apply liberally...wear clothes that won't touch it too much so it doesn't rub off...or clothes that you don't mind getting it on (it comes right off in the wash...but think about jammies and bed sheets...) It will dry and leave a film sometimes...try to gently wash off some of it off before applying more...especially the gel cause it feels kinda sticky when it's dry.

Try to stay away from lotions...they tend to aggravate any pain you have and the burnt skin soaks it up really fast! When the burn goes away or starts healing more, you can do like a Vitamin E or Cocoa Butter to help your skin heal better and prevent pealing (but it'll probably happen if it was a really bad burn.)

Best of luck

There are numerous topical skin products that are sold over-the-counter to relieve the pain of a sunburn and keep burned skin hydrated. Many popular products contain aloe, aloe with Lidocane, or vitamin E.

Temporary relief can be obtained by putting a cool, wet towel over the affected area, or taking a cool bath.

There really is no treatment for sunburn since it is just a 1st degree burn. There is little chance for infection so no need for special ointments like flamazine etc.. A simple lotion/oil will soothe it and keep the remaining living skin cells hydrated. Bathe regularly to slough off the dead cells. Time is still the best cure.

Oddly enough, white vinegar seems to help take the sting out of a sunburn.

You'll go around smelling like a salad dressing, though.
