I don't need to be told that I need to take my cat to the vet. I just want to know measures I should take before my visit in the next couple of days.

The best (and only) thing you can really do is keep the cat confined as much as possible so that activity does not cause pulling on the stitches.

What does the wound look like? Is it inflamed and oozy? This is an infection. You could try cleansing the area with clean cotton wool and cooled BOILED water (sterile-ish so as not to introduce more bacteria). A more common thing with cat spay wounds is for a lump to form under the incision - a hernia, which can be caused by too much activity too soon after the op.

If you ring your vet before they go for the visit, they can probably give you more/better advice over the phone as to what to do in the mean time.

p.s and try to DIScourage the cat from licking the wound if she's trying - if it is an infection the extra bacteria from the cat's mouth will not help!

Well, hopefully you get this cat to the vet as soon as possible, because the longer an infection is allowed to be untreated, the worst it'll become.

Until you are able to get this cat into the vet, you can put neosporin on the incision wound to help fight off the infection.

Don't do anything to the incision, and do not allow your cat to lick the incision either because that will irritate it and make things worse. Your cat should be seen right away, instead of waiting a couple of days or else it may need to have another surgery to remove dead infected tissue and repair the incision.

Make sure the area is clean and dry. Do not put anything on it.
A cat will usually lick the area to keep it clean.
Try to watch after the cat uses the litter box to see if that area has gotten dirty .If so then just clean it with a warm cloth, no soap.
The soap could make the site burn.

Good Luck

Your vet is making you wait? Keep the area clean and watch to make sure your cat does not become sick. Try to keep her calm and quiet (no jumping). Good luck! : )
