Why do people ask any kind of question? Simple: curiousity.
Jesus DID drink wine, though. Refer to the story of the Last Supper in any of the four Gospels. There's nothing sick about that; wine in moderation is a healthy thing.

If think if people were sooooo wrong in Biblical times I imagine Jesus would try and teach them the difference and explain because he cared about his flock or whatever, not form a "special" club for "special" people who can't handle the outside world. You're right, I don't know any of the background.
Any time I've asked a straightforward question about Christianity, not the Bible, mind, but the beliefs, I've been told to read the Bible.
What kind of answer is that?
That does not answer my question.
It is a lazy answer.
So I don't know any background because it seems like the Christians don't know the answer either.

Are you referring to the wedding at Cana, or Jesus pointing out that he, even being the opposite of John the baptist still didn't please the religious authorities?
