Will be travelling to New York in February with three small children and we are looking for cheap and/or free places to see that we can manage with the children. Does anyone know of any such sites?

Things kids like to do:

Museum of Natural History. If you dont see any Naturemax movie you can pay what you want for admission. (really)

If there is snow, you can sled in central park - bring your own sled.

You can ice skate in wollman ice skating rink but there is the cost of admission and skate rental - not cheap but worth it.

Planetarium..

Big apple circus - not sure when they are performing though.

American Girl.

South Street Sea Port, Chelsea Piers, Washington Square Park, Central Park, the United Nations. Plenty of free and cheap places to visit in NYC.

Lots of free stuff to do, just not as much in February as now though. There's a list on the NYC Tourist Center (Free Things To Do in NYC).

Definetely spend a day wandering through Central Park - there's lots to see there. Most guidebooks have a map showing you what's where.

A walk through Harlem is required. You'll be amazed by the history.
