I think it's about a 60-40 split between the serious questions and those that are just intended to make fun of someone else's beliefs. For example, there are a lot of people who genuinely want to know why we Catholics believe what we do, but there are a lot of people who just want to vent their hatred of us.
The same thing is true of any other belief system around here. You get those who are seriously wanting information and those who just want to cause trouble or hurt feelings.

I think that most of the questions in this area have an agenda. There are a few questions asked where the only motive is to gain information that they didn't necessarily possess. I think that's what you mean by "real."
I think the majority of questions here are serious ones, but the questioner either already knows the answer or the answer itself is immaterial. The purpose of the question is either cronyish, to elicit responses from people who agree with them (they always get best answer status); argumentative, to elicit reponses that require differing viewpoints to defend themselves; or proseltyzing, to convert others from one world view be it atheism or theism, to another. Sometimes this is ad hominem ridicule, sometimes it's ad verecundiam attack.
There are some parody questions, some that are there just to make fun and, perhaps, because someone thought they were funny. These would be "not real," I would think.
My answer would be that yes, I think that most questions in this area are for real, but most of those questions have a hidden or not-so-hidden agenda.

throwing out the garbage, which there is too much of here, there are some honest seekers here... but most seemingly legit questions are from those who are actualy not open to answers that are different that their preconcieved opinions.... and most will not accept answers that require more than a short paragraph... when I see a question that I can properly respond to I will make the best answer I can give... most times it requires that I give the option of a link to further info or for further contact off of the YA system... that is why I am open to email responces.

I think there are some people who do not care about faith or religion and they are using this board as a way to poke fun at people...
There are also some very smart Athiests (non-believers?)... who like to put up a good fight...
I bet there is some middle school kid playing around right now asking dumb questions....

I think most of them are for real. But a lot of people seem to just want to share thier opinion on certain topics and see other people's point of view.

The people who ask these types of questions are called "trolls".
They don't really want an answer, they want to inflame people and spread hatred.
