1200 calories is not enough to sustain the body.

The general rule of thumb is that you should eat as much as your burn off in a day to maintain health and vitality. Unless you are intentionally trying to lose weight, you are not eating enough.

The difficulty is that if you don't eat enough, your body will begin to attack your muscles for more energy.

Follow the food guide for your country to see how much you should be eating in a balanced diet.

Poor diet can affect a wide variety of bodily systems including menstruation.

When you eat only 1000-1200 calories a day you teach your body to store fat and in a few years losing weight will get harder and harder. (I know. I'm in that position now!)

Add lots of fruits and vegetables to your diet along with meat, nuts and eggs. Continue to exercise as you're doing.

You're not getting enough nutrition to maintain your exercise schedule.
