I like adding different tastes and textures to my salad - from crumbled skim feta cheese, to toasted pine nuts or dried cranberries, golden raisins, or fresh herbs (really nice - improve the flavor --- instead of always eating romaine or regular lettuces - try a mix of baby greens.... I LOVE frisee, radicchio and endive mixed in with fresh thyme leaves, fresh basil leaves........OH SO GOOD in a salad!)

Cantaloupe Fruit Salad
This is the ideal summer salad to accompany whatever you're grilling. It's healthful, cool and pretty. And don't think that added sugar will improve the taste. The natural sugars in the fruit combine perfectly with the tartness of the yogurt for a delicious, refreshing side dish.
2 medium cantaloupes, peeled, cut into chunks
1 pineapple, cored, peeled, cut into chunks
1 cup raisins
1 cup fresh shredded coconut (or packaged coconut, if you don't have the time)
1 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans
1 large apple, cored, unpeeled, cut into chunks
1 cup plain yogurt
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
Stir together the yogurt and orange peel. Chill.
Mix all fruits in a large salad bowl. At serving time, add the nuts and pour chilled yogurt mixture over fruit, toss, and serve.
Be sure your cantaloupes are at their peak. The nose knows best when you are shopping for cantaloupes. If you can't smell the sweetness, you probably won't be able to taste it either.
it's gud...try it...

I LOVE trying new salads. My favorite:
fresh spinach
cherry tomatoes
walnuts
crasins (dried cranberries)
sliced grapes
feta cheese
boiled egg
cucumbers
apple slices
with a spinah salad dressing (Marie's)
or a raspberry vinagrette.
Sooooo good! You don't even need very much dressing because the toppings flavor it enough!

taco salad-crush 1/4 cup doritos, add some grated reduced-fat cheese, mix 1/2 cup salsa with 1/2 cup sour cream (reduced fat if you want), toss with tomatoes and lettuce-salad mix
Asian salad-mix sliced radishes and snowpeas with a lettuce mix, stir together 1 tbsp. soy sauce, oil, red wine vinegar and 1 minced sliver of ginger root, salt and pepper to taste. allow to sit for at least half an hour for flavors to meld before tossing with salad. This salad is also really great when topped with slices of thin-cut steak strips.

You can toast pumpkin seeds and toss them over your salad .... or toast some nuts ... or maybe some little pomegranate seeds and walnuts over a green salad ... or maybe break up some pieces of bread toast like the Lebanese and mix them into your salad so they become moist and delicious...oooh: toasted besan dal ....those things are good, or you could just cook up some besan, mix it with oil and sprinkle chopped dhania over it and sprinkle over a green salad or cucumber and tomato ...
Peace & Love

Ever thought of adding fruit to your salad? A few weeks ago I had a salad with strawberries, blueberries and walnuts served with raspberry vinaigrette.

I definitely have an 18 month previous that loves lasagna, and spiral pasta with any form of sauce, handmade sausage rolls, V8 fruit and veg juice - no extra sugar. Sausage sliced long and skinny. pancakes, indian curry and rice no chilli of direction. quiche, spag bol, mince with vegies, mash potato. plenty to cook dinner its exciting. Cheese slices with polony, even toasted. Rice is wonderful so versatile and could be enjoyed by the whole relatives. rooster dishes - with shredded rooster.
