While it might help the Maple Tree, it's not a good idea for any human. Maple syrup is loaded with sugar and that can cause all kinds of problems down the road.
A healthy diet and exercise is always the best way to lose weight and to keep it from returning.

Nope, it doesn't work!!!
You can expect to become fed up with it, and move on to something else.
Just drink water, take your daily vitamin every other day or so, and just have a "taste" of the healthy foods that you need to survive ( complex carbohydrates, protein, unprocessed raw foods, etc...) - reduce the size of your servings. And stay away from highly processed sugar. You'll lose weight real fast!!!
This syrup diet sounds like a good diet for a future diabetic!!!
Good luck, and thanks for an amusing question. Is the maple tree syrup diet for real or what?

Hun, why do you need to do this fad diet? What will you learn?
Most people that do these diets end up putting all the weight back on because they miss out on the learning process you get when you just decide to go on a calorie controlled, healthy eating plan instead.
It's really, really bad to cut entire food groups out of your diet in order to lose weight.
It might be ok to do it for up to a week if you just need to shift a couple of pounds quickly, but any longer than that is really not great.
Sorry to put a downer on it, and I know you probably won't listen to me anyway (lol!), but just change your diet instead.

Find a maple tree and suck all the sap out of it. Repeat until you're a buff chick-magnet!
