can my tv support 1080i if i connect my ps3 to it via component video socket?

It's an Acoustic Solutions ASTV-1615HDS 15in LCD TV.

although you are using the right connects, the fact that the tv doesn't have the right resoulation means no........, upgrade the tv to 720 or 1080 ( the smallest size 1080 is 40" )

No. Acoustic Solutions do not make any televisions that support 1080i.

No, PS3 supports 720p and 1080p on HDTVs with those... usually 23 inches and above, although 1080p only avalible with HDTVs above 42 inches
