It wont be in my lifetime thats for sure.

Why over billions of years have people had to believe in one god or another. Why not just accept there is no gods and get on with life. It would be much better for everyone and put a stop to all the agro.

I've asked about the same question once, but the answer I got was not very satisfying, but I think there is no real answer to the question either.
I think there will never come an end to religion, or beliefs in some sort of creator that influences our lives. Current religions might change, or go to the waste paper basket, but superstition is a human property, which must have had an evolutionary advantage, but nowadays it seems to be more of a burden.
Science will always leave some blank spots where "creationists" will leap into to paint their picture of god inside. I can only hope that humanity will come to it's senses one day and realize that if everybody wants everybody else to believe their own irrational myths, things are not going to go for the good.
But as long as there are people who think it's a of god given virtue to think irrational, because god only wants people in heaven that only rely on faith (while god gave us brain to think rationally if he existed, imho), or even are longing for "the rupture", I think religion will die out together with humanity.

It will never happen. A little understanding of history should help you understand that. Even the atheists have their gods - if someone mocks Darwin or in the old Soviet era, if one mocked Stalin whose picture hung in every home, you know.
Atheists thinking they are dissing CHristianity but they are only creating the pathway to New Age. The world will never be without religion, only newer forms of it. You can't be an atheist for too long, lest you end up begging pardon from the chairs and tables in the room when you are on your deathbed like Stalin did. Why do you think even atheists are investigating the paranormal ?

It is human nature to believe and clutch at something bigger than yourself. You will never have a Theory of Everything. Unfortunately that's the way God made it!

I sure hope not in my lifetime.

"Why not just accept there is no gods and get on with life."

Why not accept that there is God and find life everlasting?

"It would be much better for everyone and put a stop to all the agro."

Sure it would. Like people wouldn't find new things to fight over even if there were no religion.

You can get on with your earthly life, and let those with faith in God get on with living life now to prepare for the future.
"As for me and my house, we will follow the Lord."
And, I don't believe that my great-great-(etc) grandparents were apes...nor do I believe that I have any jungle relatives today. Men are men, apes are apes...I don't believe in cross-species colonization.

"There had to be more to life than random chance and subjective truth."
"Think carefully; if you logically observe the world using one set of criteria, why would you use a different set of criteria to make a decision about the origin of life?
One look at the complexity of the human body should convince anyone that we are not here by some random unknown force. The human body is infinitely complex; nothing man has ever created holds a candle to the miracle of the human body."

"I could prove God statistically; take the human body alone; the chance that all the functions of the individual would just happen, is a statistical monstrosity." George Gallup, Famous statistician

"It is as impossible that pure incogitative matter should produce a thinking intelligent Being, as that nothing should of itself produce Matter." John Locke, Essay Concerning Human Understanding, 1690, IV, x. 10

I shall answer your version of this question in the same manner that I've answered every other version of this question:

Never, people will always believe in gods. Gods are used to explain the unknown, provide social power or to provide hope, so, as long as there is an unknown or a need for hope or a person wanting to take advantage of the masses then there will be gods.

yeah it would be much better, just like at how well the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, North Korea, did without God, yep looks like banning religion has worked really well.

And religion will never be defeated as it is human nature to believe in more powerful beings

in case you lose faith and don't seek for God First, and Love him first... of direction he will see absent from you... in case you be attentive to issues yet nonetheless stay as while you're interior the international you're actually not with God interior the 1st place. in case you change each and every thing to him and particularly seek for him you would be attentive to he's not absent! Secondly you would be examined to make certain in case you particularly love God for God
