The reason bad things happen is because of God's enemy, Satan the devil. After convincing Adam & Eve to disobey God, Satan challenged God's right to rule over the earth and said that humans do not need God and could rule themselves independently without God's help. God is answering Satan's challenge by allowing man to try to live without his interference. Satan also said that humans would discontinue serving God if he( Satan and his demons)) were allowed to cause them pain and suffering. There have been and still are many who are proving Satan to be a liar, who love and serve God faithfully, despite whatever persecution Satan brings upon them.
What has been the result of man ruling man without God intervening? Suffering and injustice, wars, crime and hatred.
God has promised to soon rid the earth of all those things and to destroy Satan and all who follow him. Satan will lose the challenge and be proved a liar. By remaining faithful to the end, we show that we are on God's side and prefer his rule over man's.
We need a righteous ruler who will be just and merciful. Human rulers can do nothing for us. (Psalm 146:3)
Look what Psalms 37:9-11 promises us--" For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
Soon the meek who inherit this earth will be under one government that will last forever. (See Daniel 2:44) No more will we have to put up with imperfect human rulers who can never bring an end to injustice, crime, terrorism or death itself. God's government will do all that and more.

God has never "let" bad things happen. Remember - he created Eden. A place of perfect balance. He also gave us the gift of choice. We chose to screw up that perfect place. It is not God's fault. We were created to be individuals, not his little robots.
As we make the choices in life that we do, we alter the world around us. The world is the mess because we make lots of mistakes. He is there to help us clean up our mess - if we ask. However, there are so many people pointing fingers and not enough accepting responsibility, that those who do seek God's advice and help are far outnumbered by those who don't want to actually DO something. It is far easier to make the same mistakes repeatedly and cast blame elsewhere.
If we lived our lives by following God's rules, the whole world would improve.

God created us in His image. We are to do those things God does. Our purpose in life is to make this world a better place for all humanity.

How many people ignored Cho? How many people knew he was in serious need of medical attention? He wasn't like the rest of us so we tend to just dismiss him and let him fend for himself. Why didn't Cho get the medical attention he so desperately needed? We in the U.S. probably have the best health care system in the world, but when we ignore each other and leave our problems up to God to solve -- what more can He do but weep?

Do not ask what God can do for YOU -- ask what you can do for God!!! Simply taking care of your neighbor would be a hell of a start!

Why does mankind let these atrocities happen????

Trust me, He does not like it. But ever since Adam and Eve sinned, all of this happened. At one time it was paradise, before sin entered. Now there are sicknesses and storms to balance the earth.

bah - don't you know - god only does good things like help Johnny win his basketball game

bad things (like johnny losing his basketball game) are all our own fault or occassionally the fault of satan.

I mean god could fix it but then that would interfere with our free will. besides he has a plan for us all anyways (including whether Johnny wins or loses his basketball game). You may think a plan for everyone might interfere with freewill ("how could any decision you make be free if it's all part of a masterplan?" you're asking yourself) but you'd be wrong. For some reason.

God allows bad in the world, because it is all part of his divine plan. Just because something bad happens God is not upstairs pressing down on you with his thumb. He can use catastophic events or even something small but bad to teach us and draw us nearer to Him. It is all for His glory, God never does anything to harm his children only to make them better. I also believe that he can use disaster and harm to bring us to a repentant state but in the end it is our free will if we choose to recognize him. God bless

This is not our final home. This life is only a temporary assignment. We are here for God's pleasure and for His purposes.

I do not know why God allows so much pain and suffering. But I know that if we suffer here and we place our trust in Hm, He has the whole eternity to make it u to us. : )

There is a God! If you can accept it for Him death is just a transition to Life eternal .He never promised bad things wouldn't happen only that He would never forsake us when they did.
