Some do, and many do not. It is unfortunate that more people do not educate themselves about different views before they speak/write/type.

Many people choose not to do any sort of research. Instead they go about insulting others based on what they were taught growing up. I'm always asking questions about different religions and religious beliefs. Some people are arrogant and very closed minded.

I deal with this all the time. People make assumptions from a select few, or maybe what they see on television. If they actually took the time to learn a little more about what my religion is about -- from its actual followers, not from sources which will obviously have a biased opinion -- it would probably completely change their outlook.

You're making some rather shaky assumptions of your own. Allow me to call you on a couple of them.

First: Define "following the religion properly."

I was raised catholic and I paid as much attention to the dogma as the average person. Are you suggesting I wasn't as good a catholic as, say, the Jesuit priest who devotes some twelve years of study to the question of whether there's any such thing as god and can argue about it in three dead languages? If that's your implication, then I disagree. Even without nine letters after my name and with only a working knowledge of English, I'm willing to bet that I understand as much of catholic dogma as I need to know.

Second: How much time are we talking about? Twenty years? A lifetime? How much time should I put in to satisfy your apparent need to judge what I know and what I don't know?

I'll save us both some time by answering that last one: None at all. I have nothing to prove to you, dear.

Third: Baseless assumptions and accusations are hurtful, I'll concede that. But are you sure that they are indeed baseless? And even if they're not, why should someone else's assumptions cause you any pain whatsoever? If you have the true religion, then you're armored against everything -- no?

That's enough to be going on with.

Yes, you should investigate any religion before making any assumptions ,accusations, assessments or judgments. Besides do not judge and you will not be judged.Do not throw rocks at a house if you live in a glass one yourself.

I'm with you! I know! Its really frustrating when people tell you what your belief is, and its the farthest from the truth you've ever heard. I'm a Jehovah's Witness, and other people seem to know what I believe. Do they ask a witness? No. All they get are lies about us. They ask their pastor, or read it in a book. They should ask a witness to find out the truth!!! But I totally agree with you. Don't judge what you don't know. Get the facts.

Yes. Many people, such as some Atheists, choose right from the start to not believe in God. They don't even bother reading the Bible. They would rather believe websites or their own close mindedness.

Yes I agree, if we all took the time to learn about other religions then there wouldn't be so many misunderstandings and hatred in the world.
