Work up the nerve to talk to the person and try to find something in common. The more you think about it the more hesitant you will become, so even if this does sound corny, be like NIKE and "Just do it".

You need to get some courage. Faint heart never won fair maiden. Start a conversation about anything... school, sports, the weather, etc.

just walk up to them when they are in a big group (even better if u have a friend in the group to talk to) and just let it grow!!! friendships dont occure over night...talk to them more and more and it will develop sooner or later. good luck

learn to get over your fear or shyness and talk to the person. You are better than most and good as everybody.

if you really want to be friends, you've got to suck it up and make the first approach, otherwise, you'll always be wondering if it could work.
