"We criticize that which we are most guilty of." I can't remember who said that, but it's been true for thousands of years. It's easy to criticize someone for something that you do because you UNDERSTAND and RELATE to it... He's giving you great advice, but he's not taking it himself. Why do you want to be with a guy who does that? Did your Father do that and that's why you're OK with it?

You should breakup with him and find your inner self-respect so that you won't let any man make you feel like you are under different "rules of conduct" than himself. And figure out why you want to drink and smoke when they are simply tools for people who want to escape their life. You only have one chance on this Earth -- make it a good one for yourself and others.

Have you never seen the problem in the last 2 years? If it is just now arising, he may be looking for a way to push you away from him, (ie not having the courage to break it with you)
Either way, what's life going to be like in 5-10 years with this attitude. Sit him down and find out what he really wants. Sorry to bring bad news

when a new problem arises its like an allarm bell for somethig else.... there might be another problem totally not connected and he's just showing his anger that way... try and find out what's the real problem instead of trying to fix its allarm bell.. most times that creates just more problem... arguing all the time is not the best way to go. Good luck

how can he "want the best for you" if he is making you miserable? you are obviously not happy...someone that wants the best for you would want you be happy and out there enjoyin life! It is also very hypocritical that YOU cannot do things but HE can.

You said it yourself.....he's "running your life"....Wouldn't you rather be in a relationship with someone that makes you happy and adds love to your life? Instead of someone controlling?

Dump him. You can do so much better........no one deserves to be controlled....I know you have been with him for two years and it might not be easy to leave him but in the end you will be much happier.....

Make him no longer your friend. If as a friend he demands this you sure do not want to go further do you? If this is just starting you need to head it off. Tell him that he is changing by demanding that this is what you can do and you do not like it. If he does not stop this then we must stop seeing each other.

He's trying to control you. You are your own person. This is a bad relationship to be in, either get help to work it out or move on. GL

He's probably only trying to protect you!!! He knows how it is because he does them and he doesn't want you to end up like him!
