hey everyone :) . i have to write this practice essay for school and one of the questions is what environmental effects does sulfur emissions cause. all i could find was that sulfur causes acid rain. are there any more effects than this?

The primary environmental effect of sulfur emissions, primarily in the form of sulfur dioxide is acid rain. Acid rain causes a number of different problems, which you could address in your essay. (see the first link)

However there are other direct effects of sulfur emissions including a number of heath effects such as increases in asthma. (see the second link)

One interesting impact of sulfur emissions is that it is thought to reduce global warming by reflecting sunlight back into space. (see third & fourth link) from Wiki: "The phenomenon underlying global dimming may also have regional effects. While most of the earth has warmed, the regions that are downwind from major sources of air pollution (specifically sulfur dioxide emissions) have generally cooled. This may explain the cooling of the eastern United States relative to the warming western part.[24]"

Not as much as u would think. I have worked at gas plants in West Texas and they burn H2S which is very deadly so they burn it which produces sulfur . These plants are in the desert but the plants near by have done well for the desert.

Sulfur Dioxide is the big culprit here.
