I'm graduating with my bachelors in May and am married. My husband and I are having a party at our home and he thinks he should be mentioned somehow in the invite. I think he's thinking along the lines of how parents would be mentioned if they were sending the invites. Any suggestions?

I don't mean to be rude...but is your husband graduating? Is the party for him? Didn't think so. I'm sure all your friends KNOW you're married, and that he'll be there. The party's for YOU.

He should let you have your day.

How about this:

Kevin and Mary Jones invite you to help them celebrate Mary's gradution from ------ with a B.A. degree in ----.

The party will be held at Kevin and Mary's home at (insert address) on Saturday., May 23, 2007 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Then add any other information or an RSVP if you want the guests to RSVP.

Even though you husband is not the one graduating, he is one of the hosts of the party, so he can and should be mentioned.

Congratulations.

I don't think that if your husband is mentioned in your invitation, it means that he is trying to steal your thunder. I assume that he supported you all through your years in college and he is, somehwhat, a part of your graduation. If this is how you feel then you could definetly mention his name in the invitations.

How about:

You are invited to the home of
MR and MRS HIS NAME/ HIS NAME and YOUR NAME
to honor the graduation of
YOUR NAME

You are invited to celebrate
Hosted by HIS NAME
to celebrate YOUR NAME's graduation

I am going to be totally different here and say let the invitations read something like this: Mr. & Mrs. John Doe are pleased to annouce that Jane has finished all of her requirements and will be gradutating with a Bachelors degree in ______. We'd be honored to have your presence in our home on___________(the date) to celebrate.
