I would definately call the H.R. department of the company that hired you and ask them. They will be the only people that can tell you for sure what color and how many stripes you need. It could be gold or silver, 3 or 4 stripes. It all depends on the company. I know of some smaller cargo carriers that don't even wear strips or pilot shirts.

My advice, ASK THE COMPANY.

I would suggest buying Gold stripes if this is for a commercial cargo company. Silver stripes are for private small businesses in aviation. You should wear a white shirt and have 3 stripes. 1 stripe is for head flight attendant. 2 is for a flight engineer. 3-is for a co-pilot or first officer, and 4 if for a captain. And generally, 4 is if you have your Airline Transport License which would make you elegible to be a captain. 3 is if you have a commercial license. 2 if you are in training. and i'm not sure about 1 stripe. If you don't start for a while, ask the company, because they might have preferences of which ones they want you to wear.

Depends what qualification you have... let us know

Student= 1 stripe
PPL= 2 stripes
Comm=3 stripes
ATPL= 4 stripes

Generally gold or silver stripes on a blue or black background

Seeing that you are a First Officer, you will require three stripes as appropriate:

Second Officer- 2 stripes
Junior FO- 2 and a half stripes
FO- 3 Stripes
El-Capitano- 4 Stripes

Ask your company if you are in any doubt. Good luck with the new job!

As for it being gold or silver I do not know for it is usually different for different companies. For a first officer you would need 3 stripes. Four stripes is for captain, 2 for second officer aka flight engineer, and 1 stripe is for your head flight attendant.

To northwestairlink: my dad is a pilot for southwest airlines and they actually do use silver...so again i believe it just depends on the company, so definitely do not be afraid to ask whom ever you need to in the company.

Very odd question as the company you are hired for should give you this.
