I am getting a GSD. They are awsome! I'm getting mine from a working line GSD breeder. They are different than the American breeders. www.weberhausgsd.com You should check them out!

Pick the one you like most & ONLY FROM GOOD BREEDERS, see the parents or the moms, check with previous buyers...IF the breeder will not let you see the pups, mom & where they are kept DO NOT BUY THE ANIMAL !! Be aware too many "Purebreds" big dogs especially, can have health problems, hip displasia, etc, very painful for the dog & owners, very expensive to treat, requiring surgery's that cost $1,000's !!! You might also check with Rescue Centers for the breed you would like to own, often very good, knowledgable ppl & the dogs don't cost as much !!! Take Care

It really depends. I don't know anything about where you live, what you like to do, or what you want to do with the dog you choose, so really it's whatever you want. Personally, I would choose a German Shepherd, but that is because I like them. Check out the AKC website ( http://www.akc.org/breeds/complete_breed_list.cfm ). This has a list of all registered breeds and you can look at their needs and body type as well as personality to figure out which would suit you the best!

What are your living conditions?
Are you really active?
Do you have young kids?
How many hours will you be with the dog?
Have you had a dog before?
These are the type of things I need to know before I know what kind of dog would be best for you.
And go to your local shelter. They have all types of dogs will all different personalities. You are veeryy likely to find a dog that fits you and your lifestyle.

I would pick German Shepard. They may be big but they have alot of love and they are one of the smartest dog breeds.

I would go with the German Shepherd...thats just me though. If you have more time for grooming then the German Shepherd will make a great pet. If you want something that takes less time to groom then pick the mastiff.

well, mastifs are good guard dogs but that all depends they can also be tough like rotwilers but german shepards are also very good guard dogs but can be a lot nicer than mastiffs so it also depends on the amount of attention you can give them and what the dogs each need from their owner so learn some more about each dog then you decide, its your dog not mine.

I would go bull mastiff. I had a bull mastiff pit bull mix and he was the sweetest big boy you would ever meet but still oh so protacteive. not to mention that they have short coats so as long as they dont get into something dirty you do not have to bathe them as often. and they dont shed hardly

It sounds like either one would be too much dog for you to handle. You must maintain control with both of these breeds.
