I'm not religious, but I'll try to understand the religious viewpoint.
If God makes folly of the wisdom of the world, than all the intelligence you could throw at a question is worthless, because the Bible's got the "clearer picture." This is also why thinking about contradictions is pointless; contradictions only prove how wise God is.
I think these boards would be much, much more interesting if this attitude was dropped. You can't convert people by citing a source that the your target audience finds invalid. Use your brain, not your book.

Why do people think that because God is a forgiving God that they are free to do whatever they want??? Just because God is forgiving doesn't mean those who don't ask for forgivness will be forgiven.
By the way a person telling you that you are going to hell is ignorant. No one can condemn you to hell but God. And if you don't believe in Judgement day I feel sorry for you when that day comes. Just remember you can't ask for God's help once you die, it is too late then.
I do hope you find the answers you are looking for, you may not like the answers but I do hope you find them.

God doesn't Judge that's why he gave people freedom of will.
Are these words of God , where is that written. The fact is God does and will judge. And He is the only one uniquely qualified to do so. On a forum like this you would do well to realize that a statement like that is going to be challenged. Where do you get judgment day from? It is written about in too many places to count. Yes god is very forgiving but you won't be forgiven unless you ask him to. First you have to admit to yourself that you have sinned then confess it to him and ask forgiveness then it is forgiven and forgotten.

Not all of us do. I try to answer the question concisely and accurately. If I quote from the Bible, it's because the topic deals with a Christian issue, and I try to use just enough material to support my point -- no more.
And to answer your question, God is both merciful and just. loving and holy. He gave us the free will to choose between good and evil, as well as the ability to accept or reject His Son. He will forgive all sins, but it's not an automatic thing. He does His part, but you have to do yours.
You have responsibilities, too, which include turning away from your sins with the intention not to commit them again. And you must also ask Jesus to be your Savior through His sacrifice on the Cross. That's what's expected of you before you are forgiven of all your sins.

Read 2 Timothy 3. God do want us to speak the truth at all times. Also read Genesis 1 - 3 to see what people did with there free will. Good luck. God Bless

I don't think you are going to hell, people have no right to judge anyone. We only have one Judge and we will face him one day. So just ignore them you probably have a very kind heart and that goes for a lot. Good Luck

Well if you don't think it's the truth then don't worry about it. Live your life and get as much enjoyment from it as you can. But if in doubt find out. There you go there's the free will bit.
You could of course listen out for what you want to hear all your life. There's the free will part again.

In revelation a holy temple (heart) was destroyed by people who thought they could do what they wanted at the expence of another, This will be judged and punished accordingly.
Love has borders and many are tresspasses. You have to find yourself to know when you are within your own borders or not; and many will say we and deceive rather than say "I".

Suppose you are or I am an offender. I ask your forgiveness. So you can forgive me once, twice, thrice, not more than that. You cannot make it a profession that you go on committing sins and God will forgive you. No, that is not possible. That is misconception.

Well, Chrissie, god has multiple personalities. If you read the old testament, he's always in a bad mood. If you read the new testament, he's laid back and cool. In the next testament, he'll probably be pissed off again. When I think of the perfect Christian, I think of Christian superstar, Mel Gibson; driving drunk in a car full of strippers while yelling at the Jews. Where in the bible does it say to do that? The name of the game is take a given scripture, interpret it anyway you would like, and then use it against others. That sort of sums up Christianity.
