Sin is “any want of conformity unto or transgression of the law of God” (1Jo_3:4; Rom_4:15), in the inward state and habit of the soul, as well as in the outward conduct of the life, whether by omission or commission (Rom_6:12-17; Rom_7:5-24). Sin is not a mere violation of the law of our constitution, nor of the system of things, but an offense against a personal lawgiver and moral governor who vindicates his law with penalties.

God forgives all sins except the one sin that denies Him. This sin ascribes to God what Satan has done, in that a person blasphemes the Spirit God that has been sent to call a person to righteousness. By saying with full knowledge "I do not believe", a person has in effect participated in the very first lie told in Eden.

Taking one’s own life is an offense against God, the Giver of all life. But suicide is no greater a sin as any other sin. If a person is truly saved, God will forgive this sin, too, just as He forgives other sins of those who claim the "credit" given them by the atoning sacrifice of Christ.

First of all, why would you even consider such a thing. There's so much to live for and the most selfish thing anyone could do. There are people that care for you and could you imagine the kind of pain they will suffer when you're gone, especially by those circumstances? Can you imagine NOT finding out all that you are capable of and can achieve? That's a high price to pay to eliminate whatever pain and/or despair your suffering from. Talk to someone that will listen and at least try to understand and help you.

As far as Hell, well I don't believe in that sort of thing, but if indeed it does exist, I for one hope that you do not try to find out. Life is a precious thing, you only get it once. Live it to the fullest, don't squander it. You take cares luv and be well. GL.

To clarify something that was brought up a minute ago, no, Catholics do not believe that committing suicide automatically condemns that person to Hell. Suicide is a grave sin, but like all things, there are mitigating circumstances that lessen its severity.

Most people who kill themselves are not capable of fully understanding what they are doing. Their minds and emotions are clouded by pain, drugs, grief, alcohol, or some other condition that means they are not in complete control of their actions. God does not condemn anyone for something that is essentially beyond their control.

And in any case, we know that He is far more loving, merciful, and compassionate than we can ever begin to imagine. He loves the person much more than we do, and He will take care of them in the way that is best for them.

That seems to assume that heaven or hell is determined by how you live your life.

"Not by works of righteousness (good things) which we have done, but according to His mercy, He saved us." Titus 3:5

As for suicide, I can't say what condition a heart is at the moment. I know if I were trusting in God, I wouldn't commit suicide. But, who's to say there wasn't a moment of temporary insanity? I don't know. Anything is possible.

I can not think of any where in the bible that states ,,,,,that you go to Hell if you commit suicide. However, life is such a beautiful thing given to you by God. Times can be very hard for a lot of us, but try to focus on the good things.

Many believe and teach that suicide is an unforgiveable sin because once its done, one cannot ask for forgiveness. Jesus says all sins are forgiveable except a sin against the holy spirit. No one knows what that is.

Unfortunately yes, here are some reasons i believe to support that people who commit suicide go to hell.
1) "Your body is the temple of God", when you commit suicide, you destroy the Temple.
2) "Thou shalt not kill". Suicide is killing.( You don't have time to ask forgiveness.)
3) Jesus came and died for you so that "you may have life and have it more abundantly". When you commit suicide your telling him, you don't care that He died for you.
I hope this helped, but everyone has their own opinion.

This is a ? that God has to answer because he knows the heart of a person that commits suicide, if the person is saved or not.

While suicide is a sin, a particularly grievous one since it affects so many people, fortunately there is someone who has become the perfect judge by taking upon Himself the sins of the world. It's to Him that I gladly leave judgment.

“While one portion of the human race is judging and condemning the other without mercy, the Great Parent of the universe looks upon the whole of the human family with a fatherly care and paternal regard. … He is a wise Lawgiver, and will judge all men, not according to the narrow, contracted notions of men, but, ‘according to the deeds done in the body whether they be good or evil,’ or whether these deeds were done in England, America, Spain, Turkey, or India. … We need not doubt the wisdom and intelligence of the Great Jehovah; He will award judgment or mercy to all nations according to their several deserts, their means of obtaining intelligence, the laws by which they are governed, the facilities afforded them of obtaining correct information, and His inscrutable designs in relation to the human family; and when the designs of God shall be made manifest, and the curtain of futurity be withdrawn, we shall all of us eventually have to confess that the Judge of all the earth has done right.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, ed. Joseph Fielding Smith, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., 1938, p. 218.)

The article referenced below is from an Apostle of Jesus Christ on this subject.
