No, not at all. He's only one. Lots of boys do things like this, and it's common for them to look up and imitate older siblings, regardless of sex. If you discourage it you will only be making him aware of things he shouldn't even have to be worrying about yet.

Absolutely no worries here mom. At even three yrs. old children are not gender specific. It is perfectly normal. Your son probably likes the fact that he is copying his old sister. He also probably likes the feel of the dress up clothes. I'll bet there are some that are soft and satiny. There's no reason to discourage it. Let him have fun!

Toddlers don't start recognizing the differences between boys and girls until they are about 2. My son started noticing a few months after he turned 2. So I wouldn't worry about a one year old. He's probably practicing dressing. He'll be "all boy" soon enough!

I don't think you should be concerned but if you are, why not get him some dress up clothes for boys like a cowboy outfit or a police officer uniform or something. I'm sure he's just wanting to play dress up and make believe with his sister.

My one-year-old son likes to wear his sister's pink Dora jacket. While he's wearing it, he pushes his trucks around on the floor and throws his baseball around. Am I worried? Nope. He does EVERYTHING she does, he worships the ground she walks on. Wearing the jacket is his way of saying that "she's cool, I'm going to be cool too." Ten years down the road, I might think about discouraging it.

My little brother did the same thing, he was about 3 yrs old at the time. Nothing wrong with it, very normal play for young children. At that age they really don't know the gender roles that society has.

No just take lots of pictures so when he is older you can share with them how they act with each other...lol Little ones like to act like their older sisters/brothers. Don't worry when he is about two he will starting going for the boys things more. Just enjoy what the little ones do right now because it doesn't last to long.

Please don't discourage this behavior. He is modeling what he sees. He watches mommy get dressed up and he sees his sister do the same. Let him experiment with lots of different ways to play. Children should always be encouraged as they play.

Not at this age, he doesn't understand that boys wearing girl clothes is taboo. Maybe if he was 3 or older, but for now it is nothing to worry about. He is just wanting to act like his big sister.

No, he's only 1 years old. I used to dress my younger brother up in my dresses and such...so it became a habit for him to play dress up. After a certain age, he grew out of it and became 'all boy'. But I still have photos of him all dressed up!! :-)
