To gjmb1960 - Yes, I did have an experience that made me believe in God.When I was praying for something I wanted that I later found would have been dreadful for me, I heard a resounding "no" - not in my ear, but throughout my whole body. While I believe in God, I have questions and doubts about religion.

After being a Christian and serious student of Theology for most of my life I gradually became and an agnostic. (Technically I was an atheist who was afraid to accept reality.) What had happened was that I learned so much about God and Christianity and all religions in general, that I began to see how illogical and contradictory they were. So I sat on the fence for about 7 years.

Then came my experience. I was on Normal Bob Smith's website and in response to a Christian that had emailed him about Christ's suffering he said "You're right. Jesus suffered more than anyone ever suffered. And that fact that he came back to life and has been living in Heaven for the past 2,000 doesn't change that one bit."

I suddenly found myself on the other side of the bubble looking in. Christianity was so completely absurd. I realized at that moment that I had been completely awakened, and I could never trick myself into believing the "lie" again. At the single moment, I accepted what I had known for many, many years. God is fake. He simply does not exist.

Lucine ^, and "god did it" is much less than a theory and much farther from the truth. And very well put, madam. It is very absurd when they try to claim that we were just hurt or had a bad experience. No, there are all sorts of different events which leads to our conclusion. It is insanely ignorant to think that all of us reached this conclusion the same way. Isaura, i see nothing in this person's post which is "disrespectful." But it's not surprising that you equate criticism with "disrespect." It's also quite ironic that you talk about respect and then proceed to disrespect her by calling her a "fvcker." It's also interesting to note how you have no actual objection to anything she wrote. You just falsely accuse her of disrespecting people and then disrespect her.

i think the bible is a fraud, but i do believe in god. i know because i had an experience where i had a god's eye view of everything. i could split my focus on a million different things all at once, and c what was going on everywhere. it was really pretty cool, but it only lasted a few seconds. i can't even relive all the images in my brain like i did when i had the experience, i can only focus on 1 thing at a time, but when i was actually having the experience i could focus on everything at once.

Yes, I went to church just because I had never taken my daughter to church and she was getting older. Someone there prayed for me and laid hands on me. Instantly I felt a change and no longer had a desire to drink. Neither did the preacher mention it. In fact, didn't even know me. That was not the reason I went or hadn't even been thinking about stopping drinking. Never been the same since

I was singing in my church choir one Sunday and the spirit of God hit me so hard that I start crying so hard that I actually started blubbering onstage. The love was overwhelming for someone that had been far from God for so long. When you are truly saved from sin and Jesus enters your heart, your whole life changes.

Most atheists come to the slow conclusion that the god they have been taught about from infancy does not in fact exist, like Santa. There is rarely a 'conversion moment'.

nope.

there is no proof of a god.

and, when i see something i can't explain, i don't just fall back to "oh, god did it" like so many mindless people do.

the bible is one of many cult manuals i studied in college. it is a false myth, like the others.

if that doesn't convince you, then spend some time in a hospital full of children suffering from cancer and other terminal illnesses. enough said.

Not a single experience, but a long series of experiences that offered irrefutable proof that there is not, nor has there ever been, a god.
