Hi there!
... I'm the owner of two male Yorkies and had two male Yorkies before that! When you say your 'little girl' has a swollen stomach, are you sure it's her stomach and not her liver? Is there any kind of yellow tinge on the skin over the swelling or just inside the lower part of her eyes? The reason I'm asking is, this happened to one of my previous 'boys' and it turned out to be a liver problem.
Having said that, 13 is really no age for a Yorkie; they can even go on till 20! Your vet will answer everything we cannot. It is really encouraging when you say your Yorkie is eating and drinking; my little dog did not at the stage he had the swollen belly. Maybe it is a 'girlie dog' related problem or a simple urinary disorder. Get it checked ASAP and you'll probably have caught it in time.
Try not to despair. I know how you feel but, I can guarantee you one thing, you'll feel a whole lot better when your vet has diagnosed your Yorkie's problem.
Wishing you and your little dog all the best.
Mo, Teddy, and Lenny

I would take the dog to the vet. It is not normal for the dog to have a swollen stomach even at 13. She might be pregnant, or unable to defecate something. They would need to examine the pet.
I WOULD NOT WAIT.

Has she been spayed ? she could have trouble with her womb I would take her to the vet and have her checked. If everything is alright then it could be that you are overfeeding her and she needs more exercise but she is getting on in years my little chihuahua only lived to be 13 1/2 and he was slim and active but he had a heart murmer and I think he was given wrong medication at the end. Good luck with your little one and make sue she isnt suffering.

I'm no vet but it might be liver or kidney problems. I am glad to say my cat has fully recovered from a liver problem in the last few weeks and he was so bad his legs wouldn't support him.
Try to get her to the vets tomorrow but if she is really bad there is an emergency number you can call. Just call your vet's number and there should be an answerphone message with the number.
Good luck to you and your little doggie and I hope she is on the mend very soon. xxx

Take her to the vet. It could be a serious problem, especially if she is not urinating or defecating like she used to.

This could be a number of things, it could be a mass in her tummy or she could have fluid in her abdomen due to heart disease or liver/kidney disease. I would suggest a prompt appointment with your veterinary surgeon as the sooner treatment is started the better the outcome.
Please be aware that she officially geriatric so she may have a seriour life threatening illness

Swollen tummy can mean worms. Get your dog into the vet asap. Bring a stool sample as well. Good luck.
