No point whatsoever... but every point in FAITH in God... religious groups are formed by men who will always have to compete... and so have made small clubs to join... in believe their team is best...
God is above such trivia... He'll answer to any name they choose to give Him... because the link is there from him to all of us... and when He does return to take us home... collectively... or individually at the end of our stay on earth... He doesn't give a hoot about which building, which club membership we chose... He reads our hearts and minds and souls and judges how we treated one another.
I'm a Christian... because Christ made me know His presence... and I do believe God came in Christ... but... Jesus told us Himself... He came for everyone... not only those who hear Him... but all who love their brothers on this earth.
And one who has absolute FAITH in God the Father of us all.

I'm not religious but I can see that it gives comfort to many people at troubled times in their life. Having faith that there is some kind of divine order which is helping you, or directing you in life, is comforting to many people in difficulty. If you lost someone in tragic circumstances then it may help to believe that a god is looking after them.
Some of the happiest and most content people I know are those who have a solid faith in religion - Christian and Muslim. I don't agree with their religious beliefs but it's hard not to see that they really do seem to be leading more peaceful lives and that, in the absence of hope, they have something that guides and comforts them.

I personally think that all the religions have taken what they wanted from the one true faith and made it their own, so they all have good ideals.......i think some people need something to believe in, it makes them happy and i don't see a problem with happiness....... i'm no longer religious but i think the one true religion is the mormons they have carried on the religion straight from the bible as it was then, it is now, and no they're not polygamists lol...

the point of religion is to give people a direction a meaning to this world and a promise of an afterlife, a promise that justice shall be done, this is not a game.
it is up to the individual to learn about history and the religions of the world and then to make an informed choice of which religion to follow if any. you will then be judged according to how true you were to your chosen religion.

There is no point in religion anymore!
It was invented back in primitive times before science showed us the light in order to explain what we could not understand.
Those days are now long gone.
If uncertain about the truth then I suggest you read Richard Dawkins' excellent book The God Delusion. It is to the 21st century what the bible was to the dark ages!!

I think and believe that if some individuals do not have religion then they have no guide for life. No one to look up to and no one to answer their deepest dilemma's that cannot be told to someone living. I do believe religion is a bit of a story but people are free to believe what they want to believe.

Controlling people inparticular suppressing females natural ability to have lots of power over guys through expressions of fertility like nudity and flirting.
Excusing nasty abuse of other groups like witches and repressing people like gays and single mums and excusing sexual repression.
Also used to explain away things we dont have scientific knowledge for yet to give power to the cult
