Does the sentence "We must take precautions to prevent the students in school from bullets again." make sense?

Hehe... I made this sentence, just 15 minutes ago, and i am a Chinese who is taking an English course in China. I just wantted to know weather the phrase "take precautions" was used correctly in the sentence. hehe... But thanks for your reply. Have a nice day! :-)

The 'we must take precautions' bit is fine, but the rest doesn't make sense.

I think you either need to say:

"we must take precautions to PROTECT the students in school from bullets again"

or

"we must take precautions to prevent the students in school from being shot again"

or

"we must take precautions to ensure students in school are never put at risk of being shot again".

I would go with the last one.

It doesn't make sense. Grammar is correct, but too much wording. Precaution has almost the same meaning as prevent, so you cannot put both words into the same sentence, unless it's being said by political idiots and people are quoting them.

You cannot have a precaution against the VT tragedy and prevent it at the same time.

Bullets? It's only bullets this time, but it might be knives and scissors somewhere else (another place and time).

You cannot prevent students from being hit by bullets! You can only prevent guns, knives, scissors, razor blades, etc...! You can buy a gun anywhere in Virginia, but the school should have thought of that, and security should be more vigilant, cameras or not? Why were there no security officers patrolling at the dorms or Norris Hall?

This is a case where we know what the writer means, but I think he is either a foreign speaker/writer or has a limited vocabulary.
I think he meant "We must take precautions to prevent the students from getting shot again in school." Obviously, VirginiaTech is on his mind.

It is not quite correct...you need a verb to describe what the students are doing with the bullets....like from 'using' bullets again..or 'firing' or 'having acesss to'
