Slaves are here against their will. They work for no money. They are forced into this situation and there is no chance to escape it.

Hum, that does not sound anything like the illegal alien criminals. Let's see - here against their will? - no, they choose to be here. Work for no money? Well, their pay is low but that's why they are here, to earn money. Oh, maybe they are forced into this situation. Oops, not that one either. They are here because they want to be.

Strike three - not modern day slaves. GET A LIFE, dude!

A better analogy would be serfdom than slavery. Slaves were owned. They had monetary value. Killing a slave cost a slave owner money

Illegal immigrants, while, as the above poster myopically pointed out, criminals, are just workers. A landowner in a feudal system didn't care about the peasants working for him beyond a desire for them to do as much work as possible. There were always more peasants, just as there are always more illegal workers.

To put it shortly, illegal workers are disposible, like serfs. Slaves had monetary value. A slave owner couldn't just kill all his slaves, and buy new ones. It would cost a fortune. However, if your illegal immigrants are giving you trouble, you can just invite them to discuss contract negotiations, and bring along the INS as a special guest. (This really happened.)

Edit: I'd just like to agree with everyone on the "omg they're criminals!" bandwagon. Illegal immigrants are the reason I can't get a job picking fruit or cleaning hotel rooms!

Did you really just ask this question? You wasted five points on this?

Okay. Let me break it down to you. I did not see the African Americans swimming over here for "opportunity". They were sold, by their own people, to be purchased by the wealthy Americans. Often times, they were beaten, verbally abused, denied an education, and were sometimes killed just for being who they were. They CERTAINLY were not PAID to work. Their incentive to work was to get another meal (maybe), or not to get whipped by their masters.

I just don't think that illegals have it that bad, do you? They get to come over here, work tax-free, have their children sent to school at my expense, get free healthcare, and live better than an American who busts their a** at LEAST five days a week for a paycheck that puts that American in the "middle class", which is just another two words for "screwed with taxes to support illegals".

They live like royalty over here compared to where they came from. I am SOOO glad that my paycheck can afford them more than it does me.

Slaves cannot leave their master. Illegals have a choice of staying or returning to their home country.

You don't have to be an illegal to be a slave in America... An honest and fair and equitable living Wage is not being paid to Sixteen(16*)+ Million American Workers by the Government and American Employers in America... To not do so is to keep them in perpetual Poverty... Workers of the World unite, the only thing you have to lose are your chains...NO ONE WHO WORKS FOR A LIVING SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE IN POVERTY....You worked us and paid us like slaves.. SLAVERY is ALIVE and well in America...

Hmmm... let's see.... they come here by the millions, annually, so they can be enslaved? Stop spreading your disinfo. They receive free medical-care, education, and they don't pay taxes. One of my coworkers recently found out that she had several credit card debts for cards she didn't know she had. It turns out one of these "family values" undocumented migrant workers was using her social security number for credit card scams. How about we bring our boys and girls home from the middle east and put them on the border? Isn't it the duty of our federal government, as stated in the Constitution, to defend our borders?

One more thing. The 2nd largest source of revenue, for Mexico, is money sent home from illegal-immigrants, here in the United States of the North American Union.
