I doubt if this is Neuralgia even though it hurts like heck. this is not sciatica, as The sciatica nerve is located in the muscle groups in your behind.

You may have slept in a bad position and now you have a pulled muscle. Use a heating pad or hot towels on your neck for twenty minutes. Follow this with an application of analgesic balm. This is going to help relax the muscle.

if you don't get relief from this I recommend you get a professional massage therapist to work out the stressed muscles. If not try a chiropractor.

Neuralgia literally means nerve pain caused by irritation to or damage to a nerve. As you woke up with the pain then it may simply be that you slept wrong and have pulled a muscle, plus as you're under the weather anyway it's common to have all kinds of aches and pains. As Ibuprofen doesn't seem to be helping you then I would try some Paracetamol. If it is neuralgia (which I doubt) then Paracetamol is one of the recommended treatments. Hope you feel better soon.

I dont know enough about this condition to give a definite answer. The condition affects the nerves in the upper neck and back of the head. The question would be if the condition affects the surface nerve endings that a tattoo would stimulate, or if it is a problem with the way the nerve impulses are interpreted by the brain... It is definitely a question for your doctor, not for Yahoo. Sorry :-(

I have had sinus and not had a pain in the neck and shoulder, you should go to your doctor and find out what it is.

You would have to see a physician and be evaluated.
