And some go on to kill people which are a superior or inferior type of animal depending on your point of view. In short, why does the Government allow these cowardly types to own guns, just because they were needed for a while when the country was wilder and being settled?

Not all rabbits are helpless, have you seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

OK I'll take your question seriously...even though it is inflammatory and has only been posted to incite angry responses.
Hunting has been a traditional activity for human beings as long as there have been human beings. The main difference now is that the killing is done in an abattoir instead of the forest.
Are you a vegetarian?

The 2nd Amendment gives every American (except a convicted felon) the right to own a gun, but the state in which the gun owner lives tells that owner where he/she can bear it. Killing animals has been a part of food gathering since the beginning of time. However, in today's world, killing an animal with a gun for food is illogical. Some people are into hunting as a "sport", and if it truly is a sport, then there are laws as to where and when and how much "game" a hunter can have in his/her possession. I am against hunting for sport. There is no reason for it except for food and with today's grocery stores, most anything one wants to eat is made available for purchase. As for a "killing instinct" - NO, I do not see that as a reason. I believe in owning guns , but for self-protection only! One would have to define your word of "coward" before the government would act on your proposal. As long as the 2nd Amendment is alive and well, I will own a gun or have a right to purchase one.

First off you are looking at things the wrong way. JUST because a person is a gun lover does NOT make him a hunter. And just because a person is a hunter does NOT make him a gun lover. THEY ARE two different people. I AM a gun LOVER and I would NOT go hunting for ANY kind of animal. No bear, deer, wolves, coyotes, skunks, NONE. But if someone broke into my home I would NOT have a problem in shooting them. They should hope and pray that the cops catch them before I do.

Have you personally interviewed these "so many" gun lovers? If not, how would you know what they "love" to do, much less WHY they do what they do. So what are you? A mind reader, now? Not all gun owners are gun lovers... not all gun lovers like to hunt... not all hunters love guns.

There are more law abiding gun owners than there are lunatic gun owners who go on killing sprees. The law abiding gun owners don't make news because they're, well, boring, news-wise.

That said, I don't own a gun. I don't love guns. I don't hunt. In fact, I have a pet rabbit.

But I have enough common sense to not make wild assumptions about people who do own guns.

To the person who mentioned Genesis, please read the whole book of Genesis... the animals were required for food as well as for sacrifices.

Your post is more of a statement than a question. I can only assume that your purpose for posting is to incite more 2nd Amendment argument.
Nonetheless I will post my opinion. I live in the country. Hunting for game, raising food to eat in our garden and owning firearms are part of my heritage. One that I have a right to, despite the way you think. That is one of the greatest things about this country: you and I can agree to disagree and have individual rights to do so. You choose not to endorse hunting. That is your right as well. Don't denounce those that choose to hunt and own guns.
I enjoy hunting, and do so to enjoy the outdoors. Every hunt is a successful hunt regardless if game was bagged or not. The reason? I get to see some of the most beautiful country...some that most people never get to see. And I fish, and I eat the fish or release them back into the water.
Cho owned a gun legally. He chose to use it illegally. The problem is not with the gun, it is with Cho. Sooner or later people will hopefull place the blame where it belongs: with the criminal. If Cho had not had access to a gun, he would simply had to go to the internet to get simple plans for an IED and blown someone up.
Using your reasoning, we should also ban cars. Many more people are killed daily by irresponsible drivers than those with guns. So why aren't you ranting against cars? Why aren't you ranting against the internet? Your bias is obvious.

what? look i am an animal lover i hate to see any animal suffer or die ect and i myself could never kill one (unless my kids were starving) but i understand y they need to be killed where i live deer are so over populated they are being hit every day even inside city limits 2 days in one week i drove by deer that were hit and laying on the road but not dead they were trying to get up and you know they had to be in pain so how is that fair? and how is it fair for people to hit them and die from the wreck? you just need to know more about what your talking about
THIS IS TO KG i also live in ohio and if you had your pet dog killed by a cyote you wouldnt feel that way also i have to make sure my kids are inside because there is a pack of at least 20 running around my place and was told by the game warden that with that many in a pack they will surround and kill a human. once again i would never just kill them for the fun of it but they are deadly animals who will hurt you and your family for no reason

No it is not killer instinct. Do you eat meat? Hunters hunt for food, fishers hunt for food. God put the animals on earth for food. You call anyone cowards who have guns, well let me tell you something, People have guns to protect themselves from criminals, and to hunt with. We still need guns today like they did in the wilder days, cause there is more things now to defend ourselves from. What would you use to protect yourself and your family with? A Phone? LoL,, Grow up Guns don't kill People , People kill people.

Actually the killing of game is controled, without it there would be too many deer, they would be destroying crops, huring the enviorment since most of thier natural preditors are gone. The harvesting of animals are controled and watched to keep it within proper limits, Your answer shows that you need to read some of the proper mateial onit, I would say going to the NRA web site, even your state forestry web sites and find out that proper hunting is actually needed to cotrol animal poplulatoins.

Inferior types of animals? ???????????
And you've got a problem with people that like guns?
Me thinks you got bigger problems.
Im a trapper and love wild meat . With all the moose that you and your "type" are killing for me on the road , I may not have to use my guns to get that meat much longer.I get at least 1/2 a moose out of each roadkill. Excellent!!!I'm not getting rusty though . Still got to shotgun those birds.........LOL

Some states think that animals need "thinned out", like deer,
There are so many people encroaching on where animals normaly live that animals now are considered a nuisance, just because they are trying to live. I think it is heartless that where i live (Ohio) that coyotes are making a comeback and now people want to kill them.
