You don't need a degree persay, but look for a restaurant and hospitality program. Part of the curriculum is business and management and marketing.

Next, find a LOT of money! Then you'll need a sales tax permit and an employer identification number (EIN). Then you should come up with your menu and a business plan. Then find a building, preferably one that already has the equipment. Then get insurance. (Liquor license if you want it is a whole 'nother mess) Revamp the building according to city code as much as you need to. Start hiring help, set your dress code, and train the help. Oh, and get an attorney and accountant on your speed dial. Determine your hours. Call the health board and get an inspector to come out and OK everything and give you a food service license (and display it! very important.) Call distributors to set up accounts and ordering. Call a laundry service and set up an account for towels, rags, and aprons. Oh, and set up a business checking and savings account at a bank. Pick a date and advertise in the papers, radio, etc for an opening.

God, there's so much involved. I've done it twice and I look back and I'm surprised at how I managed all the stress. It took me 4 months of legwork and paperwork to reopen. A brand new business will take a lot longer.

Um, there's probably a lot more. Email me if you have more questions, I'd be happy to help.

Money can buy you anything. Depends on where you are and what you need to open an outlet. Go to any search engine and check the requirements in your country. It will vary from country to country. Check out the requirements from there.

Then plan ahead, a head start of 6 months to a year is good. Plan your menu, this will lead you to the equipments required, then plan what your target market is, your decor will then come it to mind.

Plan the outlet, is it going to be a standalone unit and situated in a retail outlet. Each of this has its pros and cons for business.

Get to getting some experience in operations in the fast-food restaurant you have mentioned, or even in cafes, start small so that you will know the basics, then progress upwards, so your staff would not be able to cheat you.

Learn the management skill and people skill.

Much can be said but its really your initiative.

The first most important thing to have in combination is the desire, the dream and the will. Then you will need a sound business model creating newer or expanding existing opportunity and making use of it to the full. You will need to brush on food services basics which could be done through day school, even on line (ecornell, etc.) or on the job. Respective clearances in the areas of health, and other food related should be obtained ( i don't know what it would be in your country , am certain that will not be very difficult).
Anyways good luck and god bless

Well,I've owned my resturaunt for over 15 years, and the best thing to start out with is to sell your current home, and use it for your buisness. Put all risk into making your buisness a success. To start your buiness, call up the SBA, and apply. I majored in Food marketings and my minor was accounting. Good luck =)

In term of education, you should consider something in the Businsss program, but keep in mind it should be something you have interest in. After all, it is the hard work and the innovation that count in order to success in a business.

In term of legal procedure, it all depends on where you live. Every city/province has it own policy. If you are living in Canada, you can log on to : http://strategis.ic.gc.ca/engdoc/main.html. This is a very resourceful site, it has many links to narrow down your search.

Good luck.
