I take it along with Tramadol, and Lortab 5/500. I feel awful. And am still VERY much in pain. I expect some pain, but this is too much. Does it take Lyrica a while? I have read everything about it but would love to hear your opinions.

Absolutely a pill seeker or addict, i am miserable with these pills and am to the point of frustration over pain management. I don't believe that it is effective and agree the problem needs to be addressed, but this is where the nuerosurgeon sent me. I don't have good insurance and believe that is the reason.

Hello,

I'm very sorry for your pain. Sadly, I know how incredibly frustrating and isolating chronic pain can make you feel.

Please know before I continue, I am not a doctor. I am simply a person with RSD/CRPS who has been on multiple medications for the past 12 years. I can only tell you of my own experiences.

I recently was on Lyrica for chronic pain/nerve damage and a couple of weeks ago I asked to be removed from it. Personally, I experienced absolutely no relief from the drug and the side effects far outweighed any benefits I was receiving. To be fair, I gave Lyrica a try for well over 7 months and, to be honest, those 7 months were awful. Lyrica works for some, but it is my understanding that it is a case by case basis as well as depending on the severity of the damage and pain.

I have recently switched back to Topamax and Neurontin and have been having much more success with those than I ever had with Lyrica.

Try talking this over with your doctor. Explain to him/her that this is more pain than you can bear and to please try another medication. It sounds to me like the Lyrica simply isn't working for you, either.

Good luck, and I wish you more pain manageable days!

Please keep taking the Lyrica, give it at least 7-10 days. My husband takes 75 mg of Lyrica twice a day. He noticed no improvement in pain, but the side effects were bad for him (dizziness, confusion, loss of coordination). The pills work on the Central Nervous System. After he took them for a week, side effects went away.

He still has some pain, even with Lyrica, but when he forgets to take a dose, especially in the evening, his pain is much greater the next day.

Please don't give up on the Lyrica. Try it for at least 7-10 days. Good luck.

Hi! I know your frustration, believe me!!! I have taken Lyrica and the first week it would literally KNOCK me out? And it takes ALOT to knock me out!!!!!!!! Anyway, after that my feet and ankles started swelling like an elephant? (that is one of the side affects) so i had to get off of it. I have severe scoliosis, just had a total hip replacement, etc. U are NOT on alot of pain meds!!!!! I take 10/500 Lortab, soma, xanex and ambeim cr 12.5 just to get through a day and NOW i am on a 100mcg Fentynal patch..........NOW, that is alot and i know people on this site who take MORE than that!!!!!!!!!! I have learned that if u are in chronic pain just DON'T worry about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

y are u in pain?

lyrica takes a month to start working. But it doesnt really help. It didnt me. My arm goes tingly and numb. I have a stretched nerve in my elbow so they say. but by wearing an elbow brace I actually stopped the pain for a while, until i started over using it again. I just deal with it now. U probably just need to deal with your pain too.
I dont believe in pain management. I believe in fixing the problem causing pain. R U a pill seeker? a drug addict?
